Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer. The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic is a massive undertaking – and the success of the Tournament depends on the commitment of a small army of volunteers made up of people just like you. Your expertise and energy is needed.

Being a volunteer is a unique behind-the-scenes way to experience the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. It's fun and exciting – and gratifying to know that you are making a real difference.

The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic is more than a professional golf tournament: it is an important vehicle of fundraising for local charities – and a unique opportunity for community involvement.

Each year, thousands of volunteers donate their time to LPGA events across the country and around the world, serving critical needs such as marshaling, scoring, transportation, hospitality services and many other important jobs.

Shifts

In general, volunteers are asked to complete a minimum of three (4-6 hour) shifts in order to participate. Most committees will have an a.m. and p.m. shift. However, some committees are not asked to report until later in the day due to tournament needs. The Volunteer Chairperson will coordinate the schedule for their committee based on the specific shift information provided by the volunteer.

Committees

Admissions & Will Call
Volunteers will be responsible for staffing the ticket area and assisting security to ensure that all spectators have the proper tickets for entry. Will-Call volunteers are responsible for staffing a location for ticket buyers to pick up previously purchased tickets.

Exhibitor Support/Fan Experience
Opportunity to interact with over 50,000 people to make our "FAN EXPERIENCE" a memorable one for everyone! Staffing interactive exhibits in Fan Experience area. Lots of fan contact at registration, hitting nets, putting contest, golf simulator and other activities. Deliver and distribute exhibitor materials to individual vendor booths.

Golf Channel
Four types of positions are available; Spotters, Microphone Operators, Camera Support and Cart Drivers. 4 hour on-course morning and afternoon shifts each on Thursday and Friday and 4 hour afternoon shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Spotters will carry a voice radio and headset for communication with Golf Channel headquarters for the assigned group. Microphone operators will follow their assigned group with a portable microphone. Volunteer must be familiar with golf rules and etiquette.

Hospitality/ Tournament Information
Check credentials for all areas of hospitality, which include Main Clubhouse and 18th Green Suites. Greet and direct Players and Guests of the Tournament with an easygoing, pleasant attitude. Volunteers need to be knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, and possess an outgoing personality. Many positions require standing for long periods of time with occasional breaks. Assist with evening functions, check credentials / registration as needed.
Tournament Information volunteers rove the Course as “Tournament Representatives” acting as greeters, answering questions, offering pairing sheets and being “goodwill ambassadors” of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

Marshals
Stationed at locations throughout the course with a focus on tees, landing areas and greens. Volunteers are responsible for enforcing standard golf etiquette as it pertains to controlling spectator noise and movement during play and alerting spectators and managing galleries when golf balls travel outside of the ropes.

Media Tent
Assist with general operations of the Media Center and promotion of the Tournament. -Responding to media’s requests for information and assistance.
-Answering telephone inquiries from off-site media.
-Distributing tournament information to the media, news clippings and other miscellaneous support.
-Posting press conference announcements and providing microphone and other assistance in the Interview Room during press conferences.
-Escorting LPGA players from the course to the interview room, driving the golf cart to drop media off at various course locations and picking up supplies and other materials from the tournament office and other course locations.
-Assisting professional photographers with Pro-Am photos


Merchandise
Assist fans in purchasing of tournament souvenirs, general merchandise and apparel. Duties also include stocking and replenishing merchandise on shelves, welcoming customers, bagging purchases and processing transactions as a cashier. Assist with set-up and tear-down of inventory before and after the tournament.

Player Transportation
Prepare courtesy cars for the approved LPGA participants. Pick up and drop off players at the San Francisco airport if needed. This committee's work begins one week prior to the first day of the tournament and concludes one day after the tournament ends. Committee members must be available to work at least 7 of those 12 days. Must be 25 years of age and have a valid driver's license.

Scoring Control/Scoring/Starter/Autograph Tent/Main Scoreboard
Scoring Control - Support the management of the LPGA's scoring system in scoring trailer. Requires advance interview. May involve computers or other technology.
Scoring/Starter/Autograph Tent - Be up close and personal with the LPGA players inside the scoring tents as they finish their rounds each day. Verify scorecards are properly handled and ready for LPGA official pick-up. This is a serious and very exciting venue; you will be an integral part of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. Other duties may include: Autograph Tent - assist LPGA professionals in the official Autograph tent. Pro-Am days - sit green side and collect pro-am scorecards and deliver them to the pro-shop scoring window. Starter Tents – monitor Starter Tents on 1st and 10th tee, greeting players, making sure scorecards, pin placement sheets, and other print materials are stocked for players use. Main Scoreboard - Receive and update hole-by-hole scores for the top 10 tournament leaders on the leader board located at the 18th green. Volunteers are needed Thursday through Sunday with 5-6 hour shifts in the morning and afternoon. Volunteers must be able to frequently climb up and down a ladder and will be working outdoors with minimal protection from sun, wind or rain during their assigned shift.

Security/Parking
Check credentials at key locations as well as on-site parking passes; direct guests to appropriate parking lots. May require periods of standing and outdoor elements. Off-site parking: collect parking fees, help with traffic control and facilitate loading passenger shuttles. Security at key locations such as: Media Tent, Hospitality, Suites and Clubhouse.

Standard Bearers
You will be responsible for carrying a standard throughout 18 holes of an assigned golf pairing. Working with the Walking Scorer assigned to your group, the standard sign will display the names and current scores of the players you’ll be walking with. Volunteer needs to have knowledge of the proper golf scoring format as well as golf etiquette.

Volunteer Tent
Help distribute food & beverage vouchers and goodie bags. We need happy volunteers to insure that all tournament volunteers have a wonderful experience at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

Walking Scorers
Keep on-course statistics and scores on a handheld “Palm” type computer device that is used to track each player’s performance. Walking Scorers will carry a voice radio and headset for communication with the LPGA scoring truck. Walking Scorers will also be responsible for the performance of the Standard Bearer assigned to their players. An on-line training package will be provided for review and there will be a mandatory instructional session prior to the tournament start date. On-site support will be provided.
